Rather than import the helmets and sell container loads of helmets to regional or national industry distributors, Vega helmets are sold directly to motorcycle stores around the country. The company sells helmets that are made by Soaring Corp. Ltd, a Chinese company. Despite the brand facing stiff competition from other companies — Korean-based HJC and Shoei in particular, sales have grown steadily. ...from small beginnings... Soaring Helmet got started in 1994 after Jeanne DeMund and Lou Xu invested $100,000 of their own money. The company's first big marketing push was a direct marketing mail campaign to more than 500 dealers around the country to get the Vega motorcycle helmets brand "out there" in the market. About 10 percent of those dealers responded, and Soaring Helmet had lift off. DeMund and Xu continued marketing Vega motorcycle helmets direct to motorcycle shops when an independent salesman in Michigan got wind of Soaring Helmet and contacted the duo about becoming a distributor of Vega motorcycle helmets. The site has all the state-of-art testing facility and a strong QC and R&D force. From 1990 Soaring Helmets have been certified under the American DOT , SNELL approval , Australian Standard (AS) and European Standard (ECE) . ...good quality and low cost... One thing that is very noticeable about Vega motorcycle helmets is the price tag: they are almost always cheaper than comparable helmets! In fact, in my opinion, this works against them a little bit; I personally am always a little bit suspicious when something seems too good to be true.
